Anju in bw

Anju Holay is the Managing Principal of NSM Research. She holds an MBA in Marketing from The University of Chicago and a BS in Industrial Engineering from Northwestern University. She trained as a focus group moderator at the RIVA Institute in Washington, D.C. Over the past 17 years, Anju has worked in brand management/ marketing research with numerous manufacturing, retail, ingredient, and packaging companies.

Prior to founding NSM Research, Anju worked in Brand Management on Gatorade – evaluating new products and platforms, design initiatives, and business performance. She also developed package specifications, and researched innovations, for several Quaker Oats brands. Early in her career, she conducted ergonomic studies, and functioned as a group facilitator, for The Eastman Kodak Company.

Utilizing this rich background in Brand Management, Innovation, Packaging, and Engineering, Anju gathers consumer and customer insights through focus groups, one-on-one interviews, and online research. Her unique background allows her to maximize creative input, generate new ideas/insights, and then help clients develop/refine consumer-driven marketing propositions.

Firm roots in the food industry have allowed Anju to become accustomed to rapid innovation. Clients appreciating this style have requested her to branch into additional industries, resulting in additional specialties in Pharmaceuticals and Health & Beauty.

Anju is the Immediate Past President of Food Executive Women, a Contributing Editor for Prepared Foods magazine, and a member of QRCA (Qualitative Research Consultants Association).

Sanjay Holay has over 25 years of experience in the food and beverage industry encompassing start up, mid-size and Fortune 100 companies. Sanjay held marketing, innovation and R&D positions at Merisant, Diageo, Quaker Oats Company, Gatorade, Snapple, LifeSpring Nutrition Solutions, and Chef Solutions Inc. Sanjay obtained an MS in Chemical (Food) Engineering from Colorado State University and MBA from The University of Chicago.

Bob Murray, PhD, FACSM was the co-founder and director of the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI) from August 1985 to April 2008. Dr. Murray was responsible for a broad program of internal and external research in a variety of areas in exercise science and sports nutrition designed to set industry standards and consumer expectations for science-based product efficacy. The work of GSSI ensured that top-quality scientific research contributed to brand equity, substantiated product benefits, developed new formulas, and tested innovative ideas for new ingredients. A core component of Bob’s responsibilities was evaluating the scientific accuracy of benefit claims for new products and ingredients. Bob is highly skilled at communicating critical scientific information in clear, accurate, and useful fashion, leveraging emerging scientific advances and innovations to create sustainable competitive advantage.
